Old Kyle
House is a newly renovated traditional cottage that offers
comfortable accommodation in a stunning setting in the small
hamlet of Keoldale, on the shores of the Kyle of Durness. The
house is located close to the passenger ferry for Cape Wrath
with its spectacular Clo Mhor Cliffs.
Located
approximately 2 miles from Durness Village, it is a delight to
return to after an active day’s fishing the famous Durness
Limestone Lochs. Alternatively it is an ideal base for
walking, hill climbing, or bird watching. The Kyle is teaming
with seabirds and a walk up to nearby Loch Borralaidh is a must
– the island there is home to hundreds of birds. Durness is one
of the few areas where corncrakes breed and several pairs can be
heard calling in the Keoldale area. A visit to the Puffin
colonies at Faraid Head is also recommended.
Alternatively
you can just chill out and enjoy the peace and tranquilities
that abound in this beautiful area of North West Sutherland.
We can arrange
‘all in’ packages incorporating accommodation and fishing on the
famous Limestone Lochs. We have boats for hire and can even
supply a ghillie if required.
